Pumpkin Jack Welcomes You!
Pumpkin Jack is all about carving pumpkins. I have patterns, instructions, anecdotes, carving galleries and even Halloween stories. Come in and stay a while. Please return often.
The majority of the patterns on this site are quiet complex and require hours of time to complete. If you find them to be intimidating or, perhaps, you would like a little practice first before tackling them, you might wish to attempt some more traditional patterns here, some Halloween images here or my extensive collection of smiley face patterns here.

Pattern of the Month - July - Monsters - Frankenstein's MonsterHere it is July and 2014 is half over. For me, this is the month I start to seriously look at beginning my carving projects; Michaels, the craft store, begin stocking Halloween products, including their line of artificial pumpkins; and the days begin their annual acceleration toward the end of the year. What do I mean by that? There is plenty to do in Summer that is fun but there is also a lot of work. Chores you can't do during the winter must be done now. It's not hard to be constantly busy. Then it's September, the kids are back in school, the chores you've put off must be done urgently, fall fairs begin and for farmers and home gardeners alike, harvesting must be completed. October sees Thanksgiving (in Canada) and Halloween. November and December belong to year-end events like Christmas, Hanukkah and New Years. So belt yourself in and hold on kids, it's going to be a bumpy ride!
For July's pattern we have the iconic Frankenstein's monster as portrayed by the late great Boris Karloff. Here you have a genius piece of work as you are left wondering if the label of "monster" is accurate, or is the creature more of a victim himself? Is Victor Frankenstein more the monster for playing with powers we should never play with? Also, after all this time, have we yet learned the lesson that just because we can do something, doesn't mean we should!
So with those deep thoughts swimming through your head, I present to you July's pattern of the month: Frankenstein's Monster!
