Pumpkin Jack Welcomes You!

Pumpkin Jack is all about carving pumpkins. I have patterns, instructions, anecdotes, carving galleries and even Halloween stories. Come in and stay a while. Please return often.

The majority of the patterns on this site are quiet complex and require hours of time to complete. If you find them to be intimidating or, perhaps, you would like a little practice first before tackling them, you might wish to attempt some more traditional patterns here, some Halloween images here or my extensive collection of smiley face patterns here.

Number of patterns so far: 1457.5

Pattern of the Month - May

April showers bring May flowers, or so the cliché goes. May is the month of new growth, continuing the trend begun in April. In my region, most people will do their planting in May. It is a month of firsts.

In the office of the Prime Minister there have been numerous firsts, but for May's patterns of the month, I will deal with two, the first being the first francophone Prime Minister: Sir Wilfred Laurier. He was a statesman and an idealist, believing Canada to be a land of individual liberty. He is considered one of Canada's greatest, if not THE greatest, Prime Minister. He may have been the first francophone Prime Minister, but he certainly wasn't the last.

The same cannot be said for our next first: Kim Campbell, Canada's first, and only, female Prime Minister. She got the title of Prime Minster when she was elected the leader of the ruling Progressive Conservative party. Months later she called an election which almost obliterated her party's standing in the House of Commons. Not only were there only two PC seats when the dust settled, but hers wasn't one of them. A sad conclusion to her moment in history.
