Pumpkin Jack Welcomes You!

Pumpkin Jack is all about carving pumpkins. I have patterns, instructions, anecdotes, carving galleries and even Halloween stories. Come in and stay a while. Please return often.

The majority of the patterns on this site are quiet complex and require hours of time to complete. If you find them to be intimidating or, perhaps, you would like a little practice first before tackling them, you might wish to attempt some more traditional patterns here, some Halloween images here or my extensive collection of smiley face patterns here.

Pattern of the Month - November

If you are reading this, then Halloween 2016 is over, and the Canadian Prime Ministers theme is in the books. It is time to introduce a new theme for 2017: Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The slayer has been no stranger to previous themes and is a favourite of this pumpkin carver. However I've never had a theme dedicated to Buffy because I've been waiting for 2017. Why? The year 2017 is the 25th anniversary of the movie and the 20th anniversary of the start of the TV show. I know! I aged just typing that.

Starting from the beginning, the pattern for the month of November is Buffy Anne Summers herself, as portrayed by Kristy Swanson. Kristy was the Buffy for the original movie from 1992. I liked this movie. Yes there were absurd moments in it, moments so absurd that they made the film feel disjointed. However there were amazing moments as well such as when Buffy realizes that she has outgrown her vacuous friends. The series is far superior, but the movie is still worth a look.

Also this year, something new. Since I have already carved all but three of my theme's patterns, this year I will post both the mockup and the carving. Enjoy!

November is also the month containing Remembrance Day, the day on which we remember and pay tribute to those who laid their lives on the line to protect us. Please take a moment on November 11th at 11AM to pause in silence.
