The A Team

The A-Team is an American action adventure television series about a fictional group of ex-United States Army Special Forces who work as soldiers of fortune while being on the run from the military after being branded as war criminals for a "crime they didn't commit". The A-Team was created by writers and producers Frank Lupo and Stephen J. Cannell (who also collaborated on Wiseguy, Riptide and Hunter) at the behest of Brandon Tartikoff, NBC's Entertainment president.

Col John "Hannibal" Smith

Actor: George Peppard

Colonel John "Hannibal" Smith is a fictional character in the 1980s action/adventure television series The A-Team played by George Peppard. The producers originally had James Coburn in mind to play the part of Hannibal, but it eventually ended up going to Peppard. The character—which was based loosely on former United States Army Special Forces officer Bo Gritz—appeared on The A-Team from its beginning in 1983 until its end in 1987. The character was played by Liam Neeson in the 2010 film adaptation.

Capt. H. M. "Howling Mad" Murdock

Actor: Dwight Schultz

Captain H. M. "Howling Mad" Murdock is a fictional character in the 1980s action/adventure television series, The A-Team. He was played by Dwight Schultz. The character of Murdock was almost written out of the series before it aired, as the producers found the character too "over the top". The popularity of the character among the test audience however convinced the producers to keep the part of Murdock. Murdock appeared on The A-Team from the series beginning in 1983 until its cancellation in 1986. South African actor Sharlto Copley played the character in the 2010 film, whilst Schultz appeared in a small cameo as his neurologist.

Lt. Templeton "Faceman" Peck

Lieutenant Templeton "Faceman" Peck, (often referred to simply as "Face") is a fictional character in the 1980s action/adventure television series, The A-Team played by Dirk Benedict. Tim Dunigan played this role in the pilot episode, but reputedly he was thought to look too young to be a believable Vietnam veteran, and he was much taller than the rest of the cast. He was replaced by Benedict for the rest of the show's run. The character of Face appeared on The A-Team from 1983 until its cancellation in 1986.

Sgt. B.A. Baracus

Sergeant Bosco Albert "B. A." (Bad Attitude) Baracus is a fictional character in the 1980s action/adventure television series The A-Team, played by Mr. T. B. A. Baracus appeared on The A-Team from the series beginning in 1983 until its cancellation in 1987. He is arguably the breakout character of the series and has become a cult icon worldwide. In the 2010 film version, Baracus was played by mixed martial artist Quinton "Rampage" Jackson.
